1. Soft accent headboard-panel
If earlier designers were fond of fantasy and richly decorated headboards, today the focus has shifted towards minimalism. But it is still difficult to call it ascetic (except for a very simple finish).
The trend is soft headboards that turn into accent wall panels. Moreover, they can be both horizontal and vertical – it all depends on the layout of the room. If you need to visually raise the ceiling, it is better to use a vertical, if you expand a narrow wall – a horizontal. Pay attention to the design of the soft panels: they do not stand out, designers do not use prints. It is clear that this technique is not for everyone. Someone will clearly not like cleaning this kind of panels. Alternatively, we can offer the same panels, but, for example, made of wood. The main thing is to preserve the integrity of the headboard and the accent part of the wall.
2. Pendant lights instead of lamps
The desire to optimize space has led to a change in bedside decor. Now on the tables near the sleeping place are not classic lamps, but compositions, vases with flowers and everything that you need. To keep the decor neat, use the rule of three : place no more than three elements here. It can be a pair of vases and a book or, for example, a mirror.
The light has moved upward – pendant lamps are more relevant than ever. Their shape, size and design completely depend on the design and area. Some people don’t mind installing a couple of accent chandeliers. In this case, you can save on basic lighting – a technical scenario will suffice.
Minimalism uses designer items. Buying a simple laconic lamp is not enough, alas. Such an interior will look unfinished. An interesting shape and texture are characteristics that are definitely worth paying attention to. The main thing is not to take a line that pretends to be original.
3. A muted palette
In general, it is relevant in the design of any room – paint manufacturers practically leave us no choice. The most natural warm palette is in fashion. However, cold tones are also found if you value blue and emerald tones – the main thing is that they are natural.
The most fashionable palette is monochrome beige, terracotta and pink are mixed with it. In colder versions, gray and graphite are also found.
Such a base can be coolly used to place accents, and the easiest way to make them in textiles is to change them periodically. In the natural range, the corresponding textures look the richest. Light wood, ceramics, linen, wool, cotton and warm metals will all emphasize the natural style. And not only eco, modern or Scandinavian – there are no restrictions. 4. Wood in accents and furniture
If in the design of the living room, kitchen and hallway, stone has been the undisputed leader for the past season, then in the bedroom there is a palm tree. This is understandable: the warm texture in the rest room looks much more appropriate.
Where do designers use wood most often? The most obvious thing is cabinet furniture. These are cabinets, if they are provided in the room, textured chairs, bedside tables – the choice is not limited.
A more interesting design is the headboard, which we mentioned above. And, of course, the accent panels, which also most often adorn this central wall. But this is not the only option. They can be mixed with the same soft headboard, highlighting parts of the wall. This is not a bad idea for a spacious bedroom.
Geometric shapes are in trend, it can be either whole panels or more modestly decorated panels. A real tree is not a budget option, it can be replaced by MDF, which in the photo cannot be distinguished from the original.

Another technique for highlighting an accent wall is wallpaper. And if in the kitchen or in the living room they are not so relevant, then in the bedroom the designers use them to the maximum. The safest choice is designer products. Choose European (English and Scandinavian) and American manufacturers with a history, their products are most often seen in professional projects. It’s not cheap, but it’s definitely worth it: they will be relevant for more than one season, but, if it comes to classics, then more than one decade.
What prints are in fashion? It is definitely floristry – in romantic designs, geometry and texture – for minimalist, more fantasy designs will be appropriate in modern and eclectic interiors.
6. Textiles and decorative pillows
This trend cannot be called a novelty, interesting textiles and pillow covers have been with us for several years. But they are unlikely to cease to be relevant in the next few seasons. Therefore, if you are already thinking about renovation, add textiles to the shopping list – this touch will complete the design.
The main rule: do not limit yourself to one blanket. Let it be several products from different fabrics: wool is easily combined with cotton, velvet with satin, and linen with soft knits. You shouldn’t be limited to color either. It can be contrasting products or in the same range – it all depends on the design.
The same principles apply to the selection of decorative pillows. Combine them in color and texture, size and do not skimp on the quantity. In minimalist designs, there are usually three or four of them, and in modern ones there can be five or more.
